Returns, exchanges and refunds

We want you to receive the correct product in proper working condition. This policy explains how returns, exchanges and refunds are handled by TechNormous.

Nothing in this policy limits your rights under the Consumer Protection Act 68 of 2008, the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act 25 of 2002, or any other applicable South African law.

1. Incorrect, incomplete or damaged deliveries

Please inspect your order as soon as reasonably possible after delivery.

Contact us promptly if:

  • You received the wrong product.
  • An item is missing from your order.
  • The product differs materially from what you ordered.
  • The product or packaging was damaged during delivery.

Email admin@technormous.co.za with your order number, a description of the problem and, where reasonably possible, photographs showing the product, packaging and delivery label.

Where we supplied the incorrect product, an incomplete order or a product damaged during delivery, TechNormous will arrange the return at our cost and provide the appropriate replacement, exchange or refund.

2. Defective or unsafe products

Products are covered by the statutory warranty required by South African consumer law. If a product becomes defective, unsafe or unsuitable for its intended purpose within six months after delivery, you may return it in accordance with your legal rights.

Subject to inspection and applicable law, you may be entitled to a repair, replacement or refund. Any additional manufacturer or supplier warranty applies alongside, and does not replace, your statutory rights.

A defect does not include damage caused by:

  • Accidental damage, misuse or abuse.
  • Liquid exposure where the product is not designed or rated for it.
  • Incorrect installation or use contrary to the supplied instructions.
  • Incompatible accessories, chargers, electrical supplies, networks or software.
  • Unauthorised repairs, modifications or tampering.
  • Normal wear and tear.

These exclusions will not apply where the problem existed when the product was supplied or where applicable law provides otherwise.

3. Online cooling-off returns

Where section 44 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act applies, you may cancel an eligible online purchase without giving a reason within seven days after receiving the product.

You will be responsible for the direct cost of returning the product. You must take reasonable care of the product while it is in your possession and return it with all supplied accessories, manuals, components and packaging that remain available.

The cooling-off right does not apply to transactions excluded by law. These exclusions may include:

  • Products made or obtained to your specifications.
  • Clearly personalised products.
  • Products that, because of their nature, cannot reasonably be returned.
  • Products likely to deteriorate or expire rapidly.
  • Audio or video recordings or computer software that has been unsealed.

If the statutory cooling-off right applies, TechNormous will provide the refund required by law within 30 days after cancellation.

This cooling-off right is separate from your rights where a product is defective, damaged, unsafe or incorrectly supplied.

4. Change-of-mind returns

Outside an applicable statutory cooling-off right, TechNormous is not automatically required to accept a return because you changed your mind, ordered the wrong product or no longer want the product.

We may consider a change-of-mind return if you contact us within seven days after delivery and the product is:

  • Unused and undamaged.
  • Complete with all accessories, manuals and components.
  • In its original packaging.
  • Suitable for resale as a new product.

Approval of a change-of-mind return is at our discretion, subject to applicable consumer law. You may be responsible for collection or return-delivery costs.

For health and hygiene reasons, opened in-ear audio products and similar personal-use products may not be accepted as change-of-mind returns. This restriction does not affect your rights if the product is defective, unsafe, damaged or incorrectly supplied.

5. Compatibility and incorrect selection

Please check product specifications and compatibility before ordering, particularly for smart-home products, chargers, networks, apps, operating systems and regional requirements.

If you are uncertain about compatibility, contact us before placing your order. A product that works as described but is incompatible with your equipment may be treated as a change-of-mind return unless we recommended it for a purpose you disclosed to us and it is unsuitable for that purpose.

6. How to request a return

Send your request to admin@technormous.co.za and include:

  • Your full name.
  • Your order number.
  • The product you want to return.
  • The reason for the return.
  • Whether you are requesting a repair, replacement, exchange or refund.
  • Photographs or video where the product is damaged or defective.
  • The collection address, if collection is required.

Please do not send a product back before receiving return instructions from us. This helps us route and identify the return correctly.

7. Collection and return delivery

Where a product is defective, damaged during delivery or incorrectly supplied, TechNormous will arrange collection or cover reasonable return costs as required by law.

For an approved change-of-mind or cooling-off return, the customer may be responsible for the direct return or collection cost where permitted by law.

You must package the product securely to prevent avoidable damage during transport. If the original packaging is unavailable, please use packaging that provides suitable protection.

8. Inspection and assessment

Returned products may be inspected or assessed to confirm the reported issue, serial number, condition, completeness and cause of any damage or malfunction.

An inspection does not remove or reduce your statutory rights. We will not reject a valid defective-product return merely because the product has been opened, tested or reasonably used.

If testing shows that the product is functioning correctly or that the damage resulted from misuse, accidental damage or another excluded cause, we will explain the outcome and any available options before arranging redelivery or a chargeable repair.

9. Refunds

Approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method where reasonably possible.

Once TechNormous has processed a refund, the time taken for the amount to reflect may depend on the payment provider or bank. Delivery charges and return costs will be refunded where required by law or where the return resulted from our error.

10. Exchanges and replacements

An exchange or replacement is subject to stock availability. If the original product is unavailable, we may offer an alternative product for your approval or provide the appropriate refund.

We will not substitute a materially different product without your agreement.

11. Products supplied with a disclosed defect

If a product was sold with a specific defect or condition clearly disclosed to and accepted by you before purchase, that disclosed condition will not by itself qualify as a new defect.

This does not remove your rights regarding any separate undisclosed defect or problem.
